Why is it that so many PCs cannot open Microsoft Word Document attachments that are sent from Macs and what can be done to remedy this? I am using Mac OS X and Microsoft Office Suite 2001. Thanks!

Hi again Sarah... Unfortunately there are many incompatabilities between Office on the Mac and Office 97-XP on the PC. Things have been ironed out in the most recent versions of Office for both platforms, namely Office 2004 for Mac & Office 2003 for PC. You have two options to get round this; - Buy Office 2004 for Mac... or
- Download and use OpenOffice instead for free
Once you have Office 2004 or OpenOffice installed you will have to open up your documents and save them as Office 97/2000/XP documents to get rid of those incompatabilties. OpenOffice is an 'Open Source' Office suite compatible with all document types and most languages & operating sytems. The English Mac version can be downloaded HERE. With OpenOffice you have to download & install the UK spell check & thesaurus dictionaries separately by downloading and opening this document in OpenOffice.
