Hi, I have broadband internet provided by telewest and I have been experiencing problems sending and receiving emails when I have any antivirus software installed (I have tried Norton and Avast). Telewest have advised me to disable my mail filter but I don't really want to do this for security reasons. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Cletus.
I suspect the error message you're getting from Outlook Express is '0x800CCC0F' - "Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection." If so this is most definatley your Anti-Virus program and is a very common problem with Norton Anti-Virus usually soon after Norton has updated itself and messed things up in the process. If you have Norton installed then you need to uninstall Norton completely then reinstall... (Or in my opinion ditch the reinstall & use a different AV program).
I have documented this problem in the 'Fixes' section of Nethomehelp under 'Internet Exploere & Outlook Express', fix number 6.
