hi vin. I am running windows me,with internet explorer 5. in my "dial-up Connection" window my user name and the connection telephone number has been changed automatically,I have downloaded an run both Ad-aware and Spybot but neither have stopped the problem. I am able to alter the user name to the correct one and also alter the connection telephone number.however these will change back after a few minutes even without selecting "connect" Best regards. paul.

Hi Paul, Have you scanned your PC for viruses/trojans? If not use the Housecall online virus scanner from the Nethomehelp's front page. also Have you updated Ad-Aware & Spybot before using them? If not do so and try again. You could also delete the connection altogether Then setup the connection from scratch. Instructions HERETip: IE5 is OLD, run the 'IE6 install' from Nethomehelp's Quick Links menu on the front page. Better still use a different browser and you're less likely to get this problem again.

Hi Vin. With regards to your advice re. the problem with my dial up connection. I downloaded the Housecall virus scanner which took ages as I am on a standard modem,however at the very end of the download and after selecting to scan I was informed that the scan would not start until the program had loaded,at the very end after waiting 33 mins the whole thing locked up my pc. I shut my pc down in the proper manner.I have not switched on my pc for a couple of days and tonight when I went to my dial up connection it appeared ok with the correct user name and telephone number.I have updated both Spybot and Ad-aware tonight and run them both. I seem to be ok.thankyou for your advice. I will update to IE6.Best regards paulk
