I am running Windows XP and recently everytime my PC starts up my SYSTEM32 folder opens ?. I have checked the startup folder and can find nothing in there so I was going to rebuild my machine as it was running slower and slower. It was whilst logging onto this website (which by the way is fantastic and I wish I had known about it earlier!) to download the drivers for my broadband modem (was directed to this by the Blue Yonder Helpdesk) that I discovered my machine had several parasites (never heard of them before !). On reading about their removal I noticed that the SYSTEM32 folder was mentioned ?. Anyway to cut a long story short I ran the software to remove the parasites and hoped my SYSTEM32 problem would be fixed however on rebooting this folder opened again (the machine and internet now run a lot quicker after those parasites where removed). I was wondering if anyone had any ideas/clues as to why this is happening ?

Hi Bill, Regarding your little problem with the system32 folder, download and run this file courtesy of Kelly's Korner. This vbs file should sort it out for you, if it doesn't then let me know. Glad you like Nethomehelp

Hi Vin, I have tried running this file but get the following error message. THIS SCRIPT CANNOT REPAIR YOUR ISSUE. THE EXPECTED REGISTRY WAS NOT FOUND. I am not sure if this was caused by me running the anit-parasite software as I believe this deleted stuff from the registry (apologies as I am not up to speed on PC related issues (I wish I was and am trying. But this website is an excellent place to start learning the more complex issues of owning a PC!). Sorry for being a pain but any more help you can give me will be more than welcome!.

Hi Seve, That little vbs file is for people who have SB Audigy sound cards, so you obvious don't have one of those... So, either scan your PC with HijackThis! which is on the Nethomehelp downloads page under Spyware Removal... or visit this microsoft page for instructions on how to fix the problem via the Windows registry. Good Luck
