Hi i was wondering if anyone could help with a problem i have, i recently bought a Toshiba Satalire Pro laptop (2nd Hand) which was preinstalled with Windows 2000, as i have a copy of Windows XP Home (Original) i was wanting to install this on the Laptop, i did this but when i boot the laptop up i am asked if i want to load win 2000 or xp, i have loaded both and the win 2000 is still there and win xp is also there, as the hard drive on the laptop is only 20 gig i was only wanting xp installed please help.
Note i am only using the laptop for the internet.

hi the problem you have is the way the drive has been partitioned. if you right click my computer go to properties then in the advanced tab you will see at the bottom there is start up and recovery. open this and at the top where the default operating system is use the down arrow to select you xp version then click the arrows below to select the second to display to 00, then restart this will sort you problem

Thanks Mark but what i was wanting is a way of deleting the partition on the drive and then doing a clean install of windows XP.

This isn't a partition issue, you can have more than one version of Windows installed on the same partition.
All you have to do is delete the Windows 2000 folder on your C: drive, make sure the XP installation is default in C:\boot.ini then edit out the Windows 2000 line in your C:\boot.ini file. Then your Windows 2000 installation is well and truly gone.
