:DHi i am running win xp service pack 2 the problem I'm having is copying selected items from a DVD disk containing music files in mp3 format, I click to copy to my hard disk get so far into it maybe 2nd or 3rd track and it stops with the error message cyclic redundancy check now is it the DVD disk or a problem with the machine i have uninstalled and re-installed the DVD ROM with no added advantage
The DISK was burnt using Nero 6 on another machine similar to my one.
Is it the disk or the machine and if the latter how can fix this problem?
Many thanks inadvance

A CRC is a mathematical "checksum" which is used to detect and correct errors in a file after it has been transferred from one location to another, either betwwen disks or over a network.
Put simply the CRC errors you are seeing is being caused by either a badly burned DVD, a defective DVD, a dodgy drive or most likely incompatibilities between the DVD and your DVD drive.
What type of DVD is it? DVDR-, DVDR+, DVD-RW? You may be trying to copy the files from a DVDR- when your DVD drive doesn't support the DVDR- standard.
I have similar problems reading some DVDR- disks on my laptop whereas my desktop PC will read them fine.
Hope that helps.
