Hi guys, Great site I'm glad I found it. I hope you can help now.
I have aproblem with something called nkvd.us appearing when I try to access a web page. Not all web pages though. I tried to download spybot from your site but no joy. I have checked the virus search page and trojans keep appearing as likely culprits. But I have ran an anti virus and my pc seems to be clear.
So my question is do I need to reset some systems or delete something that may have been added?
I would appreciate any help you can give. I have a firewall set up (xp's own) and am using telewset broadband if that helps.
Cheers
John

The problem you have is that your 'Internet Explorer' browser has been hijacked by malware installed on your PC. You are right in thinking that Spybot will do the trick, Ad-Aware or HijackThis! will also get rid of the pest. All available from the downloads page If the malware is stopping you from downloading Spybot, Ad-Aware or HijackThis! (yes some actually do this by design) then you should at least be able to download a different browser do get what you want. My recommendation would be Mozilla Firefox which is not affected by such browser hijackers and you may want to use it in the future if you want to avoid such problems. Click here to download Mozilla Firefox, then click 'Open'. Once installed then you'll be able to successfuly download Spybot using Firefox. Virus scanners don't generally pick up spyware or IE hijackers, the better ones do pick up malware & many trojans that are related to spyware & malware but the not-so-hot ones (Norton being the first to mind) are pretty useless against such exploits. Oh yeah.... and once you've got Spybot or Ad-Aware, remember to update it before you run the scan. Hope that helps, let me know how it goes.
