can any1 help me with a small problem.
i use blueyonder 728k and spend most of my time playin Counter Strike,,its fine most of the day with pings around 30-50,then,come evening GMT (anywhere between 5 and 7) i get spikes up into the high 300`s.
ive asked BY on numerouse occasions and gone thru short technical support over the phone running speed tests and getting decent results,therefore BY say its a problem at my end.

Hi Chris, It sounds as if you may live in a relatively built up area with a lot of cable broadband customers. Put another way, there is a high 'contention ratio' in your area. A Blueyonder support technician will able to check the power levels and 'signal to noise ratio' on the connection going to your cable modem in order to see if there are any problems. If you want to see what they are yourself just open your web browser and type the following in the address bar... http://192.168.100.1
...then have a browse at your modem's connection readings. I have already discussed the meaning of contention ratios for both DSL & cable connections HERE. Have a read if you want to know more. If the power levels are OK during the evening when you're getting high pings there's not much that can be done apart from switching to a DSL provider instead of cable.
