Hi again Heather.. 7-10 minutes! Now that's slow, should be something like 45 seconds especially considering you've got a pretty fast PC. Are you still using Kaspersky anti-virus? The usual issues that would slow down the bootup process would be; - Fragmented file system
- A damaged anti-virus software installation.
- Too many applications starting on bootup
- Viruses/Trojans/Worms
- Malicious Software (malware)
Considering you have a 3GHz P4 with 1GB RAM I doubt that too many startup apps will cause your PC to take 10 minutes to fully boot. It's more likely that the problem lies with some damaged software or some form of virus, worm or malware residing on your system. So as always, the first things to do.. You could also try completely uninstalling your anti-virus software before you do those. Then reinstall & update afterwards. See what these come up with and get back to me.
